REQUEST TO SPEAK AT CAOC EVENTS

Below lists the information for those wishing to present in MCLE learning sessions aimed at attorneys. If you would like to submit a presentation idea for our Legal Staff educational events, click here.

Who Can Submit
Submissions from CAOC members on any topic are welcome. The Education Planning Committee will consider the educational value of each proposal and the extent to which it presents new and/or significant information. The planning committee encourages new presenters with strong subject matter expertise and relevant speaking experience.


How Speakers are Selected 
An education programming committee made up of CAOC leaders from the membership select speakers and topics for educational events. All education committee members volunteer their time for the encouragement, support, and professional development of their colleagues.

Speaker submitted for consideration are evaluated by criteria which includes:

  • Information relevance
  • Content expands colleagues’ knowledge
  • Examples to support information
  • Originality
  • Timeliness
  • Inclusion of good, solid ideas
  • Logical conclusions
  • Identification of resources
  • Avoidance of product/vendor commercial
  • Avoidance of verdict amounts
  • Completeness
  • Overall submittal

Additional speakers not included in the original proposal are not permitted to be added without prior review and approval by the planning committee.

Presentation Details and Policies 
Session time allotments range from 12 minutes to 45 minutes of an engaging presentation and discussion. 

The time allotted for each session is shared by more than one speaker. 

CAOC reserves the right to adjust the time allotted for each session in order to place each session within the program time limits.

MCLE Session Materials: Each presenter must prepare a PowerPoint, syllabus, narrative paper, etc. to accompany his or her presentation that meets the State Bar of California MCLE requirements.

CAOC reserves the right to modify accepted proposal session titles, descriptions, presenters or other elements as necessary to ensure balance, quality, and enhance marketability.
