REQUEST TO PRESENT A CAOC WEBINAR
Below is information for those wishing to present webinars aimed at our members including attorneys and/or legal staff. Webinars for attorneys must be eligible for MCLE credits.
INTRODUCTORY DETAILS
All webinars must be strictly educational in nature so that CAOC can provide MCLE credit. Your submission should not include commercial content, sales pitches, product demonstrations, or promotional material. CAOC values its Business Partners and provides opportunities for vendors to sponsor and exhibit at in-person educational seminars and at CAOC’s Convention. CAOC also provides opportunities for vendors to participate at in-person networking events.
WHO CAN SUBMIT
Webinar requests must come from a CAOC member if they are submitted by an attorney or legal staff member. If a webinar request is submitted on behalf of a company, the company must first be vetted by CAOC before they can present in a webinar. Becoming a CAOC Affiliate or Business Friend is one way to complete this vetting process. Requests from companies that have not been vetted cannot be accepted.
All webinar submissions must be marketing-ready, including:
- Clear topic/title
- Proposed moderator and speaker(s)
- Educational content aligns with MCLE standards
Upon submission, you must identify who will serve as the webinar chair if this webinar is approved. The chair is responsible for organizing the webinar details such as submitting required materials to CAOC by the deadline, coordinating rehearsals, guiding speakers in planning their presentations, and ensuring that a complete set of MCLE materials is submitted by all speakers.
HOW WEBINARS ARE SELECTED
The CAOC Education Committee will evaluate proposals based on their educational value and the extent to which they present new or significant information. The committee is composed of CAOC member leaders who volunteer their time to support the professional development of colleagues.
Webinars are evaluated using criteria including:
- Relevance of information to CAOC membership
- Quality of educational content
- Professionalism of proposed presentation (Note: verdict amounts are not to be discussed in slide decks or during presentations)
- Avoidance of product/vendor commercial content
- Reference to case law, statutes, or other recognized legal authorities
- Examples included to support presentation
- Timeliness of topic
- Inclusion of practical, well-supported ideas
- Identification of resources
- Completeness of submission
- Proposed presenters demonstrated expertise in the subject matter of the presentation
- The proposed presenters’ involvement and support of CAOC’s mission
New presenters with strong subject-matter expertise and relevant speaking experience are encouraged. Additional speakers not included in the original proposal may not be added without prior review and approval by the planning committee.
