SACRAMENTO– CAOC President Elise Sanguinetti provides a two-minute video rundown of what’s at stake this year for consumer justice in the state Capitol. Among the bills being sponsored by Consumer Attorneys of California is a series of measures to help citizens deal with forced arbitration clauses that deny a constitutional right: Their day in court. CAOC is also backing a bill to ensure fair compensation for undocumented persons injured through no fault of their own and another measure requiring doctors to use the state’s lifesaving prescription drug database.    Watch

Four CAOC-backed bills passed out of legislative committees. They protect Californians’ legal rights be restricting the use of forced arbitration, which gives corporations a big advantage over consumers.

fair immigrant compensation bill

The measure, which now goes to the Senate, will provide fair compensation for undocumented Californians who are injured through no fault of their own. Currently, some get pennies on the dollar.
