This program will provide participants with one hour of required specialty credits for elimination of bias by looking at society’s shifting attitudes towards the LGBT community, and how to make sure you are addressing these changes inside and outside of the courtroom to ensure the best possible representation of your clients. The program will include a brief overview of LGBT history, including how “gay” looked historically, as well as an up-to-date look at LGBT individuals and how increased visibility is challenging antiquated stereotypes. After a touching briefly on results November’s election, key LGBT legislation and cases currently pending before the United States Supreme Court, the program will provide practical tips for interacting with colleagues, clients, jurors and judges to help you avoid inadvertently offending friends, family and members of the LGBT community.Expand summary
