Event Report
By Ingrid M. Evans, Chair of CAOC Women's Caucus
and member of CAOC Board of Governors

After a series of fabulous networking mixers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Sacramento earlier this year, Consumer Attorneys of California’s Women’s Caucus is going strong. Our recent mixer in San Diego was another success with a lot of new lawyers and CAOC members. The San Diego mixer was sponsored jointly with Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. Approximately fifty San Diego-area women trial lawyers and about a dozen CAOC Board members met at the Cask Room wine bar on Friday, June 20, to hear from Chief Judge Irma Gonzalez of the Southern District, the honorary speaker. Judge Gonzalez talked to us about her ascent to Chief Judge of the Southern District of California federal bench and some tips for us as female trial lawyers. Assembly Member Mary Salas of the 79th District and Assembly candidate Marty Block also addressed the attendees and thanked the consumer attorneys for all that they do to protect people.

Thank you to CAOC’s host committee: Susan Taylor, Karen Wick (CASD President), Rachel Jensen, Tracee Lorens (CAOC Board of Governors), Gayle Blatt (CASD Past President), and Bonnie Benitez (CASD Executive Director). I owe a special debt of gratitude to Susan Taylor (partner at Coughlin Stoia) for finding the venue and being such an organized and helpful co-host, and Laurie Klimchock (CAOC Director of Membership and Marketing) for her tireless efforts and always positive attitude! And, thanks to everyone else who joined us at the event and made the San Diego mixer a fun evening!
