2007 Hawaii Travel Seminar Wrapup

The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui
November 24 - December 1, 2007
2007 Hawaii Travel Seminar Report
By Don Galine, Seminar Chair
Approximately 50 consumer attorneys and their families met in beautiful Maui, Hawaii at the Kea Lani Hotel for the 2007 Hawaii Travel Seminar. There were excellent speakers and we were honored to have California Treasurer Bill Lockyer speak to seminar attendees.
Travel Horizons, run by travel agent Randy Cort of San Mateo, did a great job booking travel and hosting a fun reception the first night of the seminar. Randy has already begun working on arrangements for the 2008 seminar that will take place November 29 - December 6.
The Cotchett Law Firm of Burlingame provided excellent speakers and was very supportive of our group. Joe Cotchett, Frank Pitre, Niall McCarthy, and Steve Williams spoke on a variety of very interesting legal subjects. Also in attendance from The Cotchett Law Firm was Don Thornton, who is retiring in a few months. We wish him and his wife the best of luck in their retirement. In fact, he is moving to Hawaii so hopefully we will see him at some of the future seminars.
Don Ernst of Ernst & Mattison in San Luis Obispo, our current president, was very active in the program coordination. He ended up being a speaker twice and a moderator for part of the seminar. Don updated us on legislative activities CAOC will be involved in this year. Special thanks to Don for all of his help.
We would like to thank Education Director Lori Sarracino for all the hard work she did to put together this seminar. We also want to thank CAOC CEO Michael M. Reyna for helping out with all of the photos of the speakers and board members (he is our resident photographer in Maui).
Lastly, we would like to thank John Vaclavik from the James Street Group for speaking and being a Continental Breakfast Sponsor and Cocktail Party Co-Sponsor.
We hope that you plan to attend next year. If you have any interesting topics on any legal subject and are interested in speaking at the seminar, please contact me at (650) 345-8484 or Lori Sarracino at lori@caoc.org or (916) 442-6902 ext. 108.
